Your Donations at Work

Almost 90% of our funding comes directly from you–from individuals and businesses in our community who believe in the work we do. This year, we are honored to have received major gifts from individuals who wanted their legacy to reflect their commitment to Sacramento animals.

Remembering John Scholtz

John Scholtz, pictured here with his beloved dog Gabby, passed away in 2023 after a tough fight with cancer. An advocate of shelter dog adoption and a Front Street adopter himself, John was known to visit the shelter regularly just to say hi to dogs awaiting adoption. John’s family and friends joined us at Front Street Brewfest to celebrate his life and the incredible gift that he made in his will to support pets at the Front Street Shelter and in the community.

Front Street Brewfest!

So many of you came out in the cold and the rain to support Front Street at Brewfest in April! With your help, we raised over $120,000 to support Sacramento pets!

Just like we couldn’t do our important work without you, we also need other organizations in the community. We are stronger when we work together!

Front Street Animal Shelter

Our primary purpose is to support the needs of the Front Street Shelter!

In addition to supporting direct operational needs of the shelter, we work collaboratively on multiple community programs supporting pets and people in need.

Veterinary Support of Owned Pets

Every year, Front Street Shelter receives hundreds of requests for assistance from pet owners in the community who cannot afford emergency care for their beloved pets. Friends of Front Street organizes veterinary care for qualified applicants and supports owners through the process of getting their pet healthy again.

A Note From The Executive Director

The year is flying by, and we hope the information we’ve provided here helps you understand how we’ve been using that time and your financial contributions to make a positive impact for pets in our community. Later this year, we hope to update you on our Tails at Twilight Gala fundraiser, the use of grants awarded to Friends of Front Street to support our work, and an initiative to support even more pets in the community needing veterinary assistance.

I cannot overstate how much I appreciate each and every one of you who donates your time, talent, or treasure to support the Front Street Shelter and all the pets and people in our community. Inflation and economic strain are continuing to affect our most vulnerable neighbors, and many of our programs are seeing the need continue to increase. Whether the amount you give is small or large, it helps us help others, and I am so grateful for that support.
