There are over a hundred emotes in Final Fantasy 14 that let you express yourself in a variety of ways. For times when you need to move to the music, there are over a dozen unique dances you can perform, and you don't even need to have the Dancer Job unlocked!

With so many dances, it can get difficult to find out where you can get each one. Some are rewards from sidequests while others can only be purchased with real money. In this guide, we'll go over every dance emote and how you can get them.
Updated June 12, 2024: We've simplified the prerequisite requirements for each Side Quest dance so it's easier to tell what you need to do to start the relevenat quest. We've also detailed new dance emotes that have become available since this article's original publication.
Seasonal And Online Store Dances
These dances can only be obtained by purchasing them from the Mog Station for real money. Some of these dances were previously available for free during limited-time events like the Moonfire Faire, but now are only available in the Optional Store.

Sidequest Dances
These dances can be obtained from various sidequests that are unlocked as you progress through the Main Scenario Quests.
Step Dance
- Prerequisite:
- Complete one of the three following quests
- Main Scenario Quest 'Renewing the Covenant'
- Main Scenario Quest 'A Mizzenmast Repast'
- Main Scenario Quest 'A Royal Reception'
- Complete one of the three following quests
You will need to be level 14 or higher to undertake this quest, and you'll need to complete the main story up until you leave your starting city-state. Then, speak with Dodozan in the Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X:7.5, Y:12.3) to accept the quest 'Good for What Ales You'. Follow this quest and you'll be rewarded with the Step Dance emote.
Harvest Dance
- Prerequisite:
- Complete one of the three following quests
- Main Scenario Quest 'Renewing the Covenant'
- Main Scenario Quest 'A Mizzenmast Repast'
- Main Scenario Quest 'A Royal Reception'
- Complete one of the three following quests
After leaving your starting city-state and reaching level 14, you will be able to undertake the quest 'Saw that One Coming' from the NPC Eral in New Gridania (X:12.0, Y:13.1). Speak with him and follow the quest to unlock the Harvest Dance emote.
Ball Dance
- Prerequisite:
- Complete one of the three following quests
- Main Scenario Quest 'Renewing the Covenant'
- Main Scenario Quest 'A Mizzenmast Repast'
- Main Scenario Quest 'A Royal Reception'
- Complete one of the three following quests
Similar to the Step Dance and the Harvest Dance, you will be able to accept the quest 'Help Me, Lord of the Dance' from P'molminn (X:10.8, Y:9.8) after leaving your starting city-state and arriving in Ul'dah. This quest will unlock the Ball Dance.
Manderville Dance
- Prerequisites:
- Main Scenario Quest 'The Ultimate Weapon'
- Complete Hildibrand quests 'The Rise and Fall of Gentlemen' through 'The Science of Deduction'
To unlock the Manderville Dance, you will need to start the Hildibrand questline with 'The Rise and Fall of Gentlemen' by speaking to Wymond in Ul'dah (X:9.8, Y:8.7). Follow this questline until you reach 'The Hammer', which will reward you with the Manderville Dance.
Manderville Mambo
- Prerequisites:
- Complete the Main Scenario Quest 'Stormblood'
- Complete Hildibrand quests through 'The Past is Never Past'
To unlock the Manderville Mambo dance, you will need to complete most of the Hildibrand-related quests, from 'The Rise and Fall of Gentlemen' through 'Don't Do the Dewprism'. Along the way, you will need to complete the Main Scenario quests 'The Ultimate Weapon', 'Heavensward', and 'Stormblood'.
Follow this quest chain until you reach 'Don't Do the Dewprism', which can be accepted from Hildibrand in Kugane (X:11.7, Y:8.8). Then, complete this final quest to unlock the Manderville Mambo.
Tribe Quest Dances
These dances are earned by increasing your reputation with various Tribes in the game. In some cases, you'll need to complete all of an expansion's Tribe quests to unlock the Allied quest, which will then award you with a dance emote.
Sundrop Dance
- Prerequisite:
- Vanu Vanu Tribe Rank 5 - Respected
To unlock the Sundrop Dance, you will need to reach Respected reputation rank with the Vanu Vanu. You can accept three Tribal quests from the Vanu Vanu each day, so it will take a few days of diligently completing your Tribal Quests to reach Respected.
After you get to this rank, complete the quest 'Sundrop the Beat' from Linu Vali in the Sea of Clouds (X:6.6, Y:14.3) to unlock the dance.
Moogle Dance
- Prerequisite:
- Moogle Tribe Rank 6 - Honored
The Moogle Dance is a reward for reaching Honored reputation with the Moogles. You'll need to complete your Moogle Tribal Quests every day to slowly build up reputation, so this dance will take a while to unlock.
After reaching Honored rank, accept the quest 'Piecing Together the Past' from Master Mogzin in The Churning Mists (X:15.7, Y:28.8). Completing this quest will reward the Moogle Dance.
Moonlift Dance
- Prerequisites:
- All Heavensward Tribes Rank 8 - Bloodsworn (Vanu Vanu, Vath, Moogles)
After you have attained Bloodsworn with all three Heavensward Tribes, you can accept the quest 'When Good Dragons Go Bad' from Drydox in Idyllshire (X:6.9, Y:7.2). Then, follow the quest chain until you reach 'Eternity, Loyalty, Honesty'. Completing this quest will reward you with the Moonlift Dance and increase your reputation with each Tribe to Allied rank.
Yol Dance
- Prerequisite:
- Namazu Tribe Rank 6 - Honored
The Yol Dance can be purchased from Gyosho for eight Namazu Koban after reaching Honored Reputation with the Namazu. After you fill the reputation bar for Respected, you will be able to accept the quest 'Waiting for Gyodo' from Gyoshin in The Azim Steppe (X:6.1, Y:23.3).
Completing this quest will unlock additional items to be purchased from Gyosho in The Azim Steppe, including the Yol Dance.
Lali Hop
- Prerequisite:
- Dwarf TribeRank 8 - Bloodsworn
After maxing out your Dwarf Tribe reputation at rank seven, you can then accept the quest 'Tanks for the Memory' from Ronitt in Lakeland (X:9.3, Y:13.2) to put you at Bloodsworn with the Dwarves.
Then, you can buy the Lali Hop dance from Mizutt in Lakeland (X:9.4, Y:13.0) for 8 Hammered Frogments. You can earn these by completing daily Dwarf Tribal Quests.
Lop Hop
- Prerequisites:
- All Endwalker Tribes Rank 8 - Bloodsworn (Arkasodara, Omicron, and Loporrit)
The Lop Hope Dance is the final reward for maxing out the Reputation for the Arkasodara, Omicron, and Loporrit Tribes. To do this, you'll need a battle class, Gatherer, and Crafter at level 80 or above, respectively.
Once you have reached Bloodsworn with the Endalker Tribes, you can accept the quest 'Dinner and a Show' from Jammingway in Ultima Thule (X:27.5, Y:24.5). Follow this quest until it flows into 'A Dream Worth Chasing', which will unlock the dance emote.
Gold Saucer Dances
The three following dance emotes can be purchased for MGP from the Gold Saucer. They each cost 80,000 MGP, which can take a while to get if you're starting from scratch. Luckily, there are a few ways you can increase your MGP gains and acquire these exclusive dances.
