Recently I lost at a minimum 58 clips from my channel due to the person who created them no longer being part of my community. This included my most popular clip of all time and many other amazing funny moments.
The reason I am mentioning that is to add context for the biggest flaw in the clip creation system. There is no way to recover these at all so these memories are just gone forever.
My susgestion is to change how this works. Take away people's ability to delete clips that they created for another channel either all together or after X time they cannot delete the clip. Nobody should have power or control over the creators content which this gives. This person had full control over my clips they created for me and therefore my content. I should not have to download every clip of mine just to keep them safe, they should be safe on Twitch. The content creator should have full ownership of any clips made of their channel.

Hi! Just confirming that starting today, you now have additional control over Clips that you've featured. Once you feature a Clip created by another viewer, the viewer will no longer be able to edit the title or delete the Clip. Thank you!

I do appreciate that featured clips can't be renamed or removed by the creator of said clip. This helps a lot, since these important clips can't be changed anymore.
It's however not the perfect solution since it can still affect clips not featured.
Seems that what people find the best would be if a clip is deleted by the original creator, the ownership is transferred over to the streamer themselves. This way the creator can withdraw their credit as the creator, but the clip remains up. alternatively set the owner as "unknown" but treat it as if the streamer owns it when it comes to permissions.

Hopefully more options for converting ownership are implemented. Otherwise we will have to mark every clip as featured.
But my guess is this might also be design for Twitch not concerned if things are erroneously deleted because storage purposes. Similar to VODs disappear but will retain if we make the whole stream a highlight. Clips are at risk unless we chose to Feature them.

I have a potentially better solution, I'm not sure.
Let people delete their clips they created from being publicly viewable but the clip still exists for the streamer to do so as they please. This also lets the streamer know someone clipped something they shouldn't, but the clipper can't quickly delete the evidence.
The broadcaster would obviously still have the power to delete the clip completely if it's publicly viewable or hidden from view.

This is really important, even more so with the new Featured Clips functionality.
The best way for this to work imo is to only allow the creator to delete the clip on a time window after it was created (24 hours sounds like a good time frame).
Also, it should be possible for author or the channel owner to remove the author's name from the clip. Small creators sometimes don't have hundreds and not even dozens of clips so losing some because a person was banned can be quite a blow to a channel. -

I'm on board with this but would prefer if it was implemented with a view threshold. It's extremely common for many users to clip to re listen to something they missed, or even accidentally hitting the clip button. I don't want a massive amount of random, unnecessary clips in my clip library. This would allow users to delete clips that quite frankly don't make a difference to the streamer (they still have the vod!) while keeping them in control of their most viewed clips.

I agree a system where if someone clips someone else it is tied to the broadcaster/creator. I still want to retain info on who clipped it even if they delete (give credit where it’s due) but if they delete allow them to mark as anonymous publicly (and letting us still see) when doing so. I think that’d help lot. Especially when some of us have anonymous follow alerts and the like.

I had to ban someone in the community for behavior outside the stream etc. It was really a tough call as they were someone we really trusted and even made a mod. Their contributions to the community were great, but their behavior outside of the stream was deemed unsafe. All of the clips they took on stream disappeared, and it was a bummer. The streamer should definitely have ownership over all clips and get to decide on a case by case basis which ones they keep - even from banned users.

Has this been solved by Twitch's new "Featured" feature? Reportedly clips that a creator has marked "Featured" cannot be deleted or edited by the clipper.

I agree with this. I recently had this happen to me. I went looking for a clip that I utilize for channel promotion and wanted to add it to the featured clip section and it was gone. I didn't know the clip creator could delete the clip and I would lose it forever.

Absolutely agree. Content must be owned by the streamer who created it. We must own our rights and dispose of our creativity as we want. I am a student and spend a lot of time creating videos and still have to combine it with my studies. Therefore, such situations make me rather uncomfortable. By the way, for the creators of text content, I can advise the https://edubirdie.com/essay-rewriter site, I sometimes use it for study when I need to paraphrase some article or a clipping from a book. This is a great site for students, it helps a lot in their studies. In general, I hope that this situation will be resolved in our favor so that we stop worrying about it.

I agree. We (broadcasters/editors) should be abble to claim ownership of clips made on stream (or secure them in case of...). So, even if original creator delete it from his side we automaticly get the ownership.
Eventually it should even be automatically claim/secure when the number of views exceeds a certain amount that can be determined.

I think a good solution here is that if a user deletes a clip from another person's channel, the ownership goes over to the channel instead and it won't get deleted. Then it's all up to the channel to fully delete it if they want to.
If person A creates a clip of person B's channel. Person A is said to be the creator of the clip. If person A deletes the clip, the clip stays up and it will now say person B is the creator of the clip. If person B deletes the clip regardless if it's person A or person B who is set as the creator, the clip will be deleted.
This because, as several has said, in this scenario, it's the consent of person B. All the work person A has put into it is to choose the start and end of the clip. Person A shouldn't own the clip, but they could still be chosen as the one who clipped it. But person A shouldn't have any rights to if the clip stays up or not, that's all on person B. All person A can do is revoke their name on the clip.

When a viewer or user deletes clips made of a channel, the streamer should still be able to access the clips made of their channel.
Firstly, the content belongs to the streamer who made it. Simply because someone made it into a compact form does not mean the content was not the streamer's.
Secondly, if someone is being exploitative with clips of other people's channels, they should not be allowed to destroy all evidence of their wrongdoing. If a streamer would like to pursue legal action against someone based on a clip, viewers should not be allowed to strip streamers of access to their own content and potential evidence needed in a legal battle. Moreover, if the user who made the clip is the defendant in a legal case, even if the streamer were to download the clip, the information about the creator of the clip is not there and any evidence provided by the clip would be futile.
Having access to all clips made of one's channel, regardless of the library of others, is very important. Thank you for considering.

Due to privacy laws around the world, someone would still have to have a way to "disconnect" themselves/their name from any clips they've created, if they so choose.
So Twitch would have to implement a way for users to be able to anonymize their created clips. -

Please make it possible to block a delete of clips from own channel.
It's a pitty when you see that an ex moderator or normal user has deleted all his/her clips from your channel.
It's much more frustrated when this clips are so old that you aren't able to remake them because there are no vods of this old streams.It woud be so great if you can implement a feature where all clips are deletable only for channel owner.
Great would be also a new permission for users/mods which could make it possible to delete clips at the channel.Please do something! It's the second time this year where I lose so many cool memories. Ans I know I'm not the only one.
